1. Masai Mara National Reserve (Kenya)
The "Reel Deal": Kenya is Africa's best known safari destination and the Masai Mara Reserve is the best known wildlife park in Kenya. So a double whammy. From July - October you can see the amazing migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra.

2. Chobe National Park (Botswana)
Chobe National park is in Botswana's Okavango Delta and spans 4 Eco-systems. The Savuti marsh offers some of the biggest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. Chobe is home to more than 100,000 elephants.

Visit Chobe between May and September, the dry, cooler winter months. Herds of zebra, eland, buffalo, giraffe and wildebeest can be spotted around the Savuti marsh this time of year. Chobe is open to cars which makes it a little less pricey than some other destinations in Botswana.

3. Kruger National Park (South Africa)
Kruger National Park in South Africa has the highest variety of wildlife in Africa, so expect to see the Big Five, hippos, crocodiles, cheetah and more. Kruger is one of the most looked after  parks in Africa: perfect for a self-drive safari.

4. South Luangwa National Park (Zambia)
Head here for a "walking safari" - South Luangwa National Park in Zambia serves up the authentic African experience. Lots of wildlife and over 400 species of birds. The Luangwa river is chooca with hippos and if your luck is in you'll spot prides of over 30 lions. There are 60 different animal species and over 400 different bird species.

6. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (Uganda)
Home to almost half of the world's mountain gorillas. Gorilla tracking, chimpanzees, and many other mammals. Bwindi has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

7. Etosha Natonal Park (Namibia)
Namibia's top wildlife destination. Home to Africa's tallest elephants, black rhino, and almost 100 other species of mammal. Excellent for photographers in the dry season who hea to the waterholes. Etosha is a self-drive safari experience.

8. Loango National Park (Gabon)
The least well known park, but the only place in Africa where you can see whales, chimps, gorillas and elephants in one setting. In Loango you get to see wildlife on the beach, savannah, swamp and forest in a day.
